Dear Parents,
We have had a fantastic half term. Thank you for helping to settle the children so quickly and it has become very evident that they love music!!!
We have put cds on and the children have been given 2 sticks or a musical instrument to tap along with the songs.
It has extended their language as they have picked out key phrases from the Silly Song, Animal Safari and of course Frozen.
It has been proven that steady beat, rhythm and pattern all help with maths and literacy learning so why not have some fun yourselves.
An upturned plastic bowl and a wooden spoon makes a nice drum, pop some music on and tap a steady beat.
Rhythms—Your child should have some idea of how to tap the syllables of their name eg Ka-ren has 2 claps, Ruth has 1.
Patterns—We have been singing a pattern song—-tap your knees and nod your head (repeat 3 times ) You have made a pattern! A simple song but you could add 3 or 4 things to extend the learning.
